Installation planning: Structural and spatial requirements for X-ray system installation
The installation of your new X-ray unit should be associated with as little inconvenience and stress as possible. In order for everything to run smoothly, there are a few prerequisites that should be met, such as the spacial conditions or necessary technical arrangements in the X-ray room.
In order to check whether your intended premises are structurally suitable for an X-ray facility, we will help you bby conducting an on-site inspection. Among other things, it should be clarified whether your intended X-ray room can withstand the surface load and the tensile load of the corresponding X-ray unit.
For the installation situation, it must be considered whether it is necessary to install any cable ducts beforehand. It is up to you to decide whether you want us to do this for you or whether you want to take care of it yourself. If an additional cable extension is required, please let us know.
Below is a short list of other precautions that need to be taken for the acquisition site:
- Are there available at least two network connections (1 Gb)?
- Are there available at least three free power sockets?
- Can the monitor be viewed by strangers? Choose a location that is only accessible to the staff; setting up in the hallway or other passageways is less advisable.
- Is there an emergency stop for the X-ray system?
If there is a central switch that de-energises the entire practice, it is very important that the image archive server is on a different circuit NOT affected by the shutdown. Developing a radiation protection plan is also important for both you and your patients; our service team will be very happy to help you with this. Safety measures also include marking the X-ray room with a suitable warning sign.
For the power supply of the generator, other technical components must be taken into account, such as ensuring that your distribution board has a back-up fuse, a mains contactor and a residual current circuit breaker. It is essential that the last few metres of the supply cable are flexible so that the X-ray technician can lead them into the generator. If the sockets and light switches are installed in the X-ray room, this must be done either as a surface-mounted installation or by means of special radiation-protection cavity sockets so that the radiation-protection layers installed are not destroyed.
Of course, we will deliver your X-ray system on site. Various details about parking facilities, an existing lift or stairs help us to handle the transport and subsequent installation as quickly as possible.
If you have any further questions about the installation planning, our contact persons will be happy to provide you with individual advice at any time.
